What is Walk and Talk Therapy?

Are you wanting to experience therapy off the couch and into nature?
Is it hard to sit for long therapy sessions and you would rather add some movement to your therapy time?
With Walk and Talk Therapy, we will meet and have therapy while walking together in nature. It is a mindfulness oriented approach which can help with releasing tension, decrease rumination, increase \energy and reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Another benefit is I can help you use mindfulness using your senses to connect with nature, practice grounding and connect with yourself. Another option is we can do some gentle yoga postures if you would like to release stress and find more calm in the body and mind.
Although I cannot guarantee the same confidentiality with walk and talk therapy as I can with traditional therapy, its highly unlikely that others will hear our conversation.
We can watch our volume and be mindful of others as we talk about sensitive topics.
I offer Walk and Talk Therapy either in Garner where I live Monday, Wednesday or Friday and we can meet at Lake Benson park.
OR in Raleigh when I go into my in person office space on Tuesday or Thursdays. at Shelley Lake
Times are to be determined since if there is travel time I have to consider that in my schedule with other appointments
**This is all dependent on the weather, I will text you the evening before to let you know if we are still able to do walk and talk therapy with the forecast.
if we can’t meet due to weather we can do an online session or meet in Person if its Tuesday or Thursday.

Walk And Talk FAQs in Raleigh, NC
Does insurance cover it?
Unfortunately it does not, I charge my regular fee for these sessions of $155.
Do I have to be fit to participate?
Nope! This can be more of a gentle walk and I will follow your lead on how far you want to walk or if you need to take breaks. We can pace ourselves and we don’t have to walk the entire time. We can sit on a bench for some of the time and talk during the session. It is advisable to check with your Primary care Dr. before starting Walk and Talk Therapy. We can also sit on a bench for part of it.
How long does it last? We meet for the entire 53 minute session.
